Bio: A returning nontraditional student, Max started at CANFSA in the spring of 2021 after completing his degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. His research activities have included geopolitical and national security matters, warm dense matter under extreme conditions, plasma physics, advanced laser-plasma accelerators, and ultrafast diagnostics. Prior to university, Max has nearly two decades of experience developing decision software for multiple startups and Fortune 500 companies. His non-academic interests include Italian motorcycles, atomic tourism, and the technologic frontier; as the founder of a hackerspace technology nonprofit, he has been an invited speaker at TEDx and other conferences around the world, and is the holder of a Guinness World Record.
