Project Titles:

– In-Situ Studies of Strain Rate Effects on Phase Transformations and Microstructural Evolutions in Multi-Principal Element Alloys and Beta-Titanium Alloys – Microstructural Evolution of Metallic Alloys During Rapid Solidification
– Rationalization of Liquid/Solid and Solid/Solid Interface Instabilities During Thermal – Mechanical Transients of Metal Additive Manufacturing aaaaa Joined CANFSA: January 2019 aaaaa Bio: Jonah joined CANSFA after finishing his PhD in the Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center (ASPPRC) in the MME department at Mines. For his PhD, Jonah worked with advanced characterization techniques (EBSD, (S)TEM, X-ray diffraction, ect.) and mechanical testing (cantilever bending fatigue) on experimental nitriding steels. Prior to graduate school, Jonah worked for 5 years at Power Systems Manufacturing in Jupiter Florida on manufacturing and repair of industrial gas turbine components made from nickle and cobalt based superalloys. At PSM, Jonah gained experience with vacuum heat treatment, chemical stripping, fluoride ion cleaning, vacuum diffusion brazing, directed energy deposition, and laser powder bed fusion. Jonah obtained his B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Florida where he researched TiAlNbMo intermetallics for gas turbine applications. Jonah was also a welder for 7 years during his high school and undergraduate educations. Jonah has broad research interests in physical and mechanical metallurgy of metallic systems.
